THE CENTENERA HOUSES. FROM SASTRERY TO LANCE LIBRARY

The elders still remember the Centenera brothers, Agustín and Cipriano, who ran a bookstore in the Plaza de los Bandos until the end of the eighties of the last century. Unique for their physical appearance and protagonists of multiple anecdotes, they are characters rooted in the urban mythology of an era. However, few Salamancans know that those Centenera were the last representatives of a family of merchants who took root in our city, making their fortune in the field of clothing and fashion, and came to have, as a branch in Madrid, a store that they called El Corte Inglés and that, over time, would acquire Ramón Areces to found their commercial empire. 27,5x15cm, 2,5€
